History of philately holds many interesting stories, many of them can be called fantastic. Probably the most creative artist who was known for creating hand-painted postage stamps (artistamps) of fictional countries was the American philatelist XX century Donald Evans.


Different kind of stamps is produced in the history of philately! A variety of shapes, sizes and colors. However, fantasies of postal offices there is no limit. Some went even further and decided to experiment with materials for making marks.


The Double Geneva (French Double de Genève) is the name of the first Swiss philatelic standard postage stamp.


The Penny Black is one of the world’s most iconic stamps. Because it’s the world’s first stamp, it’s very valuable. Rare Penny Blacks are valued at tens of thousands of pounds and have increased in price for decades.


Communication has gone from being first united by the voice, that is verbal communication, to being totally electronic. Earlier than four or five thousand years ago, communication was all oral, with stories passed down from generation to generation.


The 6th of May, 1840 is the date of birth of postage stamp. It was the day when Britain issued its first stamp, the "Penny Black". But before was the system without advantages of envelopes and stamps, and yes.. it was early time of postage system.
